Awesome rally and some amazing performances.

1st of all, Andy Davison/Loz Taylor took the BMW win, after being chased all day by Toni Carannate/Ella Flynn.
This meand Andy/Loz are champions for 2008, WELL DONE.
Poor Andy Fox retired from the 3 way battle, after going off on the same bend as Keith Cronin.
Richie Felgate/Mark Mason were on fire, leading early on, but a slight mistake on "Big Ray" dropped them to 3rd, Tony Stoddart/George took a fine 4th, with Beginners Barney Johnson/Neil and Simon Cole/Ian in 5th and 6th, John Hudson/John Watts put the Argos Blue BMW gently on its roof on ss2. Ian Winstanley/Neil Bye were flying and looked set for a top 3 when the BMW blew its coolant on ss5 and retired

In the 205s, Russ Thompson/Andy Murphy stormed thru Dyfnant 14 seconds quicker than anyone, Dan Corner was shocked , he was near but not quite on it the rest of the day, Instead the top 2 in the Intermediates Martin Auskerin/Jon Ross and Jamie Anderson/Jon Scott , really battled it out their battle getting them nearer to Thompson,. Going into the last stage Thompson could afford to relax a little with a 15 second lead, however he nearly threw it away, a0.6 second win was maybe a little too realxed, as Auskerin blitzed the stages in 2nd place, his string of 3 fastest times, netting him "Yokohama star of the Rally" Anderson took 3rd, Chris Woodward/Tom Bowen were in the thick of it, but a cut in a dont cut threw the immaculate red 205 over the nearby cliff landing 40 feet down, where Tom walster had retired his ST with fuel problems.
The flying rob Holloway/Jo Stone took 4th
Dan Corner/James Greenwood took 5th 205, with Shon Rees/Owain Davies in 6th.
A mighty pleased Andy Smith/darren McDonald took their best result in 7th
While in 8th were 17 yr olds, Chris Boffin /Jamie Waller taking the beginners win too!!
9th 205 was Andy Hebron/Simon illsley after a trying day, while Lee Burgess/Joe Pattisson had their share of troubles but still netted 10th and 2nd Beginner points. Rob Dillon/Massimo Trentin blew the engine on the 3D hire car, Swiss 205er, Mike Rodel/Nigel banks had a lot of fun back in the UK, with 11th Pug. Rob richards /Wendy Gibson took 55th overall in the 106, preparing for the Modifieds class next year, dont know if they had any probs though!

It certainly looked a great rally.
Big thanks to the Marshals, the Wolverhampton & South Staffs Car club for organising and the whole heap of people that kept the rally going.

Congratulations to Marcus Dodd/Andrew bargery on the ANCRO Championship, also to David Bogie/Kevin Rae on the EVO Challenge win.

In the Clubmans rally, i was lucky enough to witness, the Escort battle for the win, with Nick Elliot amazing in the Mk2, but Ieuan Rowlands, is a superstar, the line he took in the "big Ray" stage and the way he kept the power on in the complex we were watching was stunning!!!!

Well done to all the competitiors, it was a great day spectating.
Congratulations to Andy Davison/Loz Taylor RWD Challenge Champions 2008, also a big congrats to all the 205/RWD competitors who yet again took a clean sweep of the 1600 awards and the over 2000cc awards.

The Forum was a real giggle, many thanks to all the panelists, Dan Barry, David Bogie and Neil McCance, Steve Perez, Marcus Dodd, Russell Brookes, John Bloxham, Julian Reynolds and Roger Duckworth who were all fantastic and gave us some wonderful insights, stories and Inspiration.
Thank you

Pat

Results can be found courtesy of Tynemouth results here http://www.tynecomp.co.uk/Results/MSA_gravel_08/bulldog_08/1/index.html

Great to see Russ only 11 seconds of Tommi in the Fiesta on SS1, also impressed how well the 205s matched times with Hockridge in the C2R2, which has more gears than a mountain bike!!!!!
Andrew Coley in the 206 cup car, said to me, he doesnt even try to match the Lunatics in the front running 205s

DO YOU REALISE HOW FAST YOU ARE!!!!! All the top 205 and BMW boys are absolute stars, you are just so fast to watch, its amazing to see you brake later, power earlier and carry ridiculous speeds into bends.
You are all heroes, Check out your times versus the main field , to be fair Richie Felgate/Mark Mason took time out of Steve Holder/Steve McPhee and Jonathan Sparks in their Subaru and Evo [no slouches those boys] on 1st stage Dyfnant, Davison 9th overall fastest on the last stage, Toni 11th overall on Big Ray and 7th fastest on SS4
Awesome

Pat

Echo what Pat has said, Ben, Steve Shep and I were out watching and it was awesome guys, great respect for Davo well done on BMW win. We watched TC and thought 'wow' he is on it then Davo came through and didn't lift once in about 1 and a half miles where many others had not only lifted but taken a comfort gear!! Must have been fun in the hot seat Loz Shocked Really hoped TC could bring the spoils back to Chesterfield this year but there is always next year.

Well done to all you are superstars and made a very wet afternoon really enjoyable. Thanks.

PS Steve Shep got some great photos of you guys and can be contacted on s5hep@hotmail.com if you want any images

Incredible times well done guys, You do realise how it would be possible to be ANCRO Champions, with the pace that you push each other too.
As we have siad, it really is about driving rather than spending money on go faster bits.
Well done
Pat

Great rally with great stages Very Happy

Not helped by an overshoot on SS1 and gear linkage probs meaning we were stuck in 4th for the second half of Big Ray. and trying not to use 2nd on SS4. But we were dead slow, and I need a good kick up the a***, especially on the really quick bits. Evil or Very Mad

Well done to the top boys; fantastic times.

Andy, Its Sweden for you mate, Honestly the miles you can do in such a short time is crazy, plus you get to sit in with the Davisons, Thompsons, Auskerins Stannys etc, I guarantee you 2-3 seconds per mile.
Just look at Martin Auskerin/Jamie Anderson/Rob Holloway this year, they all spent the week there in standard road going 205s,
Pat

We had an awesome day, great fun, great rally, great people, great result...

SS1, bit of a mare, didnt drive well and jon took a bit of getting back into it on the notes but were happy looking at the time knowing there was much more scope to go quicker. Amazed at how many spectators were out watching also, great to see.

SS2, It all clicked and we were going really well driving to the notes which were read perfectly, stage was amazing and flowing, noticed something loose at end of stage and pulled into service, asking the boys to look at rear bumper as it seems to come off every rally but we soon noticed the rear damper had snapped!!

Big thanks to i think Andy Baker who loaned me a pair but could be confused and it may be Andy corner? If either lets me know where to send them and i will get them back with a few beer tokens at the very least!! The boys fitted them both in double quick time and all was good.

SS3 pretty good again but slid wide approx 3 miles from the end and was very sideways and must of hit a jagged rock as the sidewall punctured, luckily it was on the rear but still caused me some issues until the end of the stage and lost a bit of time.

SS4 very worried about jamie having a big push so had to keep on it and we had a good run through.

SS5 Same again really but nothing too dramatic, the fast section near the end was awesome but have to admit i couldnt quite bring myself to keep it flat!!

Overall we were really pleased and followed our plan to the letter. Jon was awesome on the notes and we are feeling so confident together and are having a real laugh which is what its all about.
Adie and Kris were very impressive in service and really know what they are doing. Nothing is too much trouble!!

We finished 23rd overall, 2nd 205 and 1st inter so really pleased, big well done to Russ with an important win for his championship campaign. Will have a go to catch you next time perhaps!!

Big well done to the marshalls and organisers who ran a great rally, will def do that one again!!!

Mart

great event, unlucky for us unfortunately

SS1, wasnt even nearly on the pace, quite dissappointed but was getting more confident throughout.

SS2, much better, really felt like we were getting nearer to the pace we needed, despite smashing windscreen on an overhanging branch. However a huge hole damaged our gear box, leaving us haemorrhaging gearbox oil with half the stage to go. Soon we only had a random selection of gears working and and a damaged clutch. We finished the stage, but it wouldnt go into gear going out of the stop control, had to roll it down the road until we had enough speed to find a gear.

For the road section back to service everytime we had to stop the car would not go into gear without a push start. Gear selection became a gamble, only 3rd really worked .At one point Jaime jumped out to help push, I forced it into second and it took off down the road. As i couldnt stop it to let Jaime get in she had to jump into the moving car, top effort there!

We eventually did get it back to service, on time, but despite everyones best efforts the car decided enough was enough on the ramp just after the tunnel coming out of service.

Thank you to all the marshalls between ss2 and service, you probably pushed us at some point.

Thank you to AB motorsport and Chris Boffin for the gearbox oil.

Big thumbs up and thank you to Jaime for being so supportive, and for pushing the 205 through most of wales.

And a big thank you to James Isherwood for climbing inside the engine bay of the 205 to discover just how hot the gearbox was, very hot according to his colourful exclamation!

great event but over to quick for us.

stage one my normal slow start ,tudor getting used to my notes and how quick i wanted them.driving the stage we knew we could go a lot faster, but glad to get the first one over and get the feel.

stage two;lot better and things started to flow .tudor very good on the notes and i was getting the trust in him i have with liza.very pleased to set fastest time and close the gap on davo and richard.

stage three;realy enjoyed this stage the corners flowing and good speed on the fast bits.tudor delivered the notes perfect about two thirds of the way thru we approached a six right into hairpin left, as it was up hill i braked later than normal.the front wheels locked and we slid wide into the large deep ditch on outside smashing the nearside wheel into the arch and breaking the steering.totaly gutted a daft mistake .

many thanks to tudor for jumping in with me,gutted we didnt get to take the fight to the end.
thanks to james for looking after the car cheers mate.
thanks to all the guys who dragged us out of the ditch,of which at least six where challenge or ex challenge guys.!!!
keith cronin crashed at the same corner lovely guy to talk to.

finaly well done davo on winning the championship at the first attempt.
well deserved.
well done barney on your win and i believe the novice championship
