What Pat said ....
What an event, brilliant work from the organisers to run this rally
when half the country was flooded.
Awesome
result for our youngest crew Kris Hall/Ella Flynn to take the overall
205 Rally win.[well proud dad]
Well done to Warren Fairbairn/Derek Miller on a fine BMW win and top
10 in the clubmans too.
Andy Chalmers/Ben Cressey took a fine 1400 win and just missed a top
10 overall too.
Myself
Liz, Con and Angela went out spectating, after sorting out loads of
different problems for various crews who were affected by floods , including
finding Tim James to replace poor Tim Young who spent 18 hrs on the
M5 to sit with Peter davies.
After waving most 205s over the start ramp we dashed to rheola to the
end to just catch the 205s into the last hairpin, Jamie Nicholas was
very impressive, as was Andy Chalmers, here. Scaring me was Paul metcalfe
who got within 6" of the largest rock on the outside, plus Mad
Wendy Gibson who hurled the pink pug at this one.
Warren was unreal thru here, plus Foxy, Felgate, Haley also real commitment.
Hearing walters was cancelled we shot to the start of Margam to watch
the boys up to the hairpin 0.7 of a mile in. True commitment from all
the lads here, we then got news that the flying Chris Woodward had caught
and passes John lloyd/Mark and then crashed on the very last bend of
Margam, before they had even got out of the car Lloyds Nitro 205 landed
on top of them causing major damage to both cars, it was a very deceptive
left with Wendy Gibson also ending up off on the same corner, I rang
Warren who then warned the BMWs in the Clubmans rally of the hazard.
Thankfully all crew members were ok, indeed Wendy got pulled out by
Course closer Anthony Stoneman .
Tommi Walster had a roll in Margam [the organisers allowed him to scrutineer
and sign on late and run last car due to him trapped in floods]
Richie Felgate/Ray were leading BMW only to hole the sump while flying
high on the Margam yump, they were really looking for victory here.
Andy Chalmers was having a battle royal with Rob Russell in the 1400s
while Chris Cooper was waiting for the battle to boil over so he could
take the spoils.
Russ Thompson was finally getting a good run although he quickly wore
out the 1144 pads he had chosen , leaving him with pads on the metal
for the last 2 stages, he still took 6th overall.
Matt/Daz Smith had cruel luck with engine failure on ss1.
While the front battle raged between Hall, Davison, Crowley and Pearson.
In the end Hall/Flynn took the win by just 1.9 seconds from Pearson/Leeming,
with Davison/Mayo , Crowley/Currie. Corner/greenwood taking the top
5.
Hall of course took Inters class with Thompson, Rees next
Beginners Bevan/Fellowes took a fine 8th overall, with Metclafe and
Anderson taking 2 and 3, Anderson lucky to escape a near roll in Resolven.
Hunter booked in 5 minutes early the penalty dropping him from 7th overall.
Chalmers took the 1400 win, Russell and Cooper chasing hard all the
wayall 3 getting top 15 placingsPearce retired with engine problems
, Auskerin had an off over the margam jump and smashed his rad, Andy
Smith lost his exhaust on the margam yump so was forcd to retire at
the end of Margam.
Poor Steve Hancke s fuel pump gave up before he got to SS!.
Rob Holloway was reinstated into the results into 7th overall and 2nd
Inter after a false OTL was put in the results.
Karen Morgan/Katie /Martin finally got the 1400 to the finish, celebrating
by painting Swansea red.
Fairbairn took the BMW win, but Foxy made it palin he has real pace
with 2nd, Dowlw also setting stunning times to 3rd, Toni/Sam took 4th
with Richie Knott/Cliff taking a fine 5th, John Hudson took a best 6th.
While Stoddart/Boddy did brilliant to rescue the Tango BMW from 30 ft
down a hillside to egt to the finish
1900s it
was good to see Kit/Tim Leigh win the category, with a trouble free
run. Fraser /Nic taking 2nd.
